Invitation to Sail on a Pilgrimage
Each gold star mother received an invitation from the War Department to sail on a pilgrimage. This card gave the mother the chance to accept/decline the pilgrimage offer. Due to poor health and old age, thousands declined the offer. However, over 6,600 women took part in a pilgrimage trip.
