Pilgrimage of Remembrance

The grave of an unknown soldier in the Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery. This inscription is used on graves where the body was unidentified: "Here Rests in Honored Glory an American Soldier Known but to God." The Great War left hundreds of thousands of unidentified remains throughout Europe.
